Ahmed hits out on his way to a useful 38 in Nairobi

Bangladesh fought back to win their one-day match with Kenya in Nairobi and take a winning 2-0 lead in the series.

Chasing 185, they slumped to 134-8 with 12 overs left, but Mashrafe Mortaza hit six fours in an unbeaten 43.

He shared a superb stand of 51 in eight overs with Abdur Razzak to secure victory with four overs to spare.

Kenya also had a collapse after opting to bat, slipping from 33-1 to 45-6 in five overs but Thomas Odoyo hit four sixes in a career-best 84 off 97 balls.

Trouble began for Bangladesh in the sixth over when Rajin Saleh was held at the second attempt in the gully by Collins Obuya, who then took a superb catch above his head to oust Shahriar Nafees.

Saqibul Hasan fell to a stunning diving take by keeper Kennedy Otieno in front of where first slip would have been and the catch of the day came from Tanmay Mishra who swooped to scoop up a low drive at cover.

Some fine hitting from Odoyo helped Kenya post a reasonable score

Aftab Ahmed drove Josephat Ababu over long-on for six then hooked for four two balls later, but was the sixth wicket to fall when he pulled straight to square-leg at the end of the 28th over.

That left 73 needed from 22 overs and when big left-hander Mohammad Rafique was trapped lbw for nought hopes faded even further.

The loss of skipper Khaled Mashud, eighth to go when he top-edged to fine-leg in the 38th over, seemed to all but settle the contest.

Mortaza's two fours in three balls appeared to be little more than consolation runs, but Kenya could find no way through.

Odoyo bowled his 10 overs and took 4-36, but was obviously unaware as he stepped up to bowl the 43rd over, only to be told by the umpire that he had completed his allocation.

Razzaq continued the Bangladesh momentum by launching Steve Tikolo back over his head for six and when Mortaza hit successive fours off Nehemiah Odhiambo it left only 11 needed from 36 balls.

Mortaza concluded a match of fluctuating fortunes when he drove a no-ball through the covers for four.

He had taken 3-63 with the ball, a performance that was eclipsed by Syed Rasel's excellent return of 4-22.

It was the first time the 22-year-old left-arm paceman had taken a four-wicket haul in 14 one-day international.
