Flipsyde, the up-and-coming hip-hop group that opened for Damian Marley at an outdoor X Games concert in Aspen in January, returns next weekend for the Bud Light Spring Jam.
This time, the Oakland foursome will headline at the Jam’s annual CORE Party at the corner of Galena Street and Cooper Avenue on Saturday, March 18, starting at 8:30 p.m. The band’s appearance was finalized Friday. Flipsyde is set to hit the road with the Black Eyed Peas and Pussycat Dolls in an upcoming tour. Spring Jam starts Thursday in Snowmass with a 7 p.m. show by the Freddy Jones Band; Atlanta-based guitarist Sam Thacker will open.
Friday brings a St. Patrick’s Day party, live music, and Big Air Fridays competition at Snowmass, capped off with a fireworks display.
Also Friday, the FusionPark Invitational takes over Rio Grande Skatepark in downtown Aspen — an evening showdown of ski and snowboard rail-sliding and skateboarding competitions performed simultaneously to live music.
Saturday, before the Flipsyde show, the KickAspen Big Air Invitational on Aspen Mountain puts ski and snowboard athletes under the lights with prize money up for grabs.
Things wrap up Sunday with a free Terrain Park Bootcamp for beginners on Fanny Hill at Snowmass.
A detailed schedule of events will be published next week.
