South African police investigate scam that used Oprah's name

CAPE TOWN, South Africa Oprah Winfrey is doing something good for South Africans, but some scammers there aren't.

On the positive side, the talk show queen is opening an all-girls school there. But just days after she made a high-profile visit to pick students for the school, an investment scam popped up using her name.

Authorities say Winfrey has nothing to do with the scheme in which hundreds of people were told that if they paid a dollar-40, they'd then get 168 dollars a month for the next decade.

When police went to a community center to see what was going on, the locals reportedly screamed at them to leave.

Despite that, police were able to recover and return some of the money. They're questioning eight people in connection with the scam.
