BOYS & GIRLS CLUB
    Annual golf classic
    The Waltham Boys & Girls Club fifth annual Mike Cameron Golf Classic is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 25, at Wedgewood Pines Country Club in Stow. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Fee is $175 per person and includes greens fees, cart, lunch, dinner, gifts and awards. A foursome is $700.

    FARMERS' MARKET


    Saturdays at One Moody Street
    The 16th season of the Waltham Farmers' Market is under way in the Sovereign Bank parking lot at One Moody Street. A dozen vendors are selling fresh, Massachusetts-grown fruits and vegetables, organic and Asian specialty produce, herbs, cheese, eggs, hamburger, honey, preserves, sweets, breads, pastries, salad dressings, potted plants and local artwork.
    The market is held rain or shine, and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 28. Volunteers are needed to help set up and break down the market each week, to post and drop off fliers, and to help with other committee tasks.     Skye Hurlburt
    The Eastwood Swing Orchestra's female vocalist Skye Hurlburt will perform at Senior Healthcare of Chestnut Hill, 615 Heath St., on Friday, Sept. 1, at 2:30 p.m. Hurlburt is a classically-trained vocalist who also plays the harp. She has performed with the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Boston Opera Company, as well as locally with the Downtown Jazz Orchestra, Brown University Jazz Band and Arthur Medeiros Swing Band.

    FARMERS' MARKET
    Two sites
    The Newton Farmer's Market is Tuesday's at Cold Spring Park, 1200 Beacon St., through Oct. 25, from 1:30 to 6 p.m., and Friday's at American Legion Post 440, 295 California St., through Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The market features fresh fruits and vegetables, beef, turkey, fish, baked goods, jams, jellies, breads, condiments, flowers, plants, cheese and homemade ice cream. There will be special events each week to make this a social as well as a staple event.

    MARINE CORPS
    Cell phone program
    The Kelly-Sullivan Marine Detachment #594 of the Marine Corps League has instituted a cell phone program to collect all old, used or replaced cell phones. All phones will be used to buy calling cards for our troops in Iraq.
    The drop-off donation boxes are located at VFW Post 10334, 623 Trapelo Road; American Legion Post 156, 215 Waverly Oaks Road; Waltham fire stations; and Franco's Cafe, 714 Moody St.
