Los Angeles Rock Band Garners Most Votes in Cingular Wireless and Conde Nast Media Group Sponsored Battle

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- After weeks of voting by Cingular customers, Virgin Records' 30 Seconds to Mars has garnered the most votes in the Cingular Wireless and Conde Nast Media Group's Want You To Sound Off contest. The group will play atop the marquee at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday, September 7 at 6:30 pm ET at the third annual Fashion Rocks(TM) concert in New York.

For the past six weeks, six bands -- 30 Seconds to Mars, Angels and Airwaves, Blue October, Ima Robot, The Pink Spiders and The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus -- have been competing to land the coveted spot of performing on the legendary Radio City Music Hall marquee, live, at Fashion Rocks(TM). Fans who have been viewing exclusive interviews and video diaries from many of the bands online at cingularsource.com or via Cingular's 3G video service, have been casting their votes via text message short codes on their wireless phones, resulting in a win for 30 Seconds to Mars.

Mark McGrath of Sugar Ray will kick off the performance at 6:30 p.m. after which 30 Seconds to Mars will play a short set. The marquee is located on Avenue of the Americas, between 50th and 51st Streets. Fans will be able to watch the concert for free, online at blueroom.att.com beginning September 9. Shortly thereafter, Cingular 3G customers will be able to watch exclusive video excerpts of the show from their mobile phone.

In the second voter driven competition Virgin Records' 30 Seconds To Mars won this week, the first being the MTV2 Award for "The Kill" at the 2006 MTV VMAs, the band will perform atop the marquee at Radio City Music Hall as the winner of the Cingular Sound Off contest. 30STM released the certified gold record A Beautiful Lie on August 30, 2005 to critical acclaim. "The Kill," which is the second single from their album, has become a top three hit at Modern Rock Radio while the video has just won the MTV2 Award at the VMAs after being nominated for two -- "Best Rock Video" and the MTV2 Award.
