New centre will give children a Sure Start
SURE Start will be able to help children right across Fleetwood with the opening of their new £311,000 centre.
After starting in 2002 and opening a centre at Kemp Street in the port, the group – which helps families with pre-school children – expanded with facilities at Flakefleet School.
Now they have put the final piece in the jigsaw by building on to the Wyre Family Resource centre at Rothwell Drive.
Sure Start director Richard Kerans said they would be able to cater for 1,554 children under the age of five.
Fleetwood and Blackpool North MP Joan Humble performed the official opening for Sure Start. The new centre will eventually mean two more jobs.
The new extension has an adult training room, a children's activity area, a kitchen and a meeting room.
