AEROCONTRACTORS Airline yesterday aborted a Lagos-Abuja bound afternoon flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos following a faulty tyre.
A Boeing 737-300 aircraft with registration mark YU-ANJ, having over 100 passengers on board was involved in the incident, which occured about 3.00 p.m. yesterday.
Briefing journalists on the incident at the Presidential lounge of the airport, Aerocontractors' director of flight operations, Capt. Patrick Ogunlowo said that the aircraft's pilot heard some unusual sound when he was about to take-off and aborted the flight.
He further pointed out that it was later discovered by a team of the airline's engineers that it was uneven pressure on the aircraft's main landing gear that sparked off the noise.

"The pilot of the aircraft heard some unsual sound and aborted take-off as a precautionary measure.
"And on coming back to the apron, we discovered it was uneven pressure on the main landing gear (rear tyre) that led to the rumbling and vibration and the set of tyres were changed with brand new ones," Capt Ogunlowo explained.
He also disclosed that passengers on board disembarked and continued their journey with another aircraft, adding that the flight was not delayed to 3.00 p.m. because of technical reasons but following report of inclement weather in Abuja.
