'Flavor of Love' starlet Hoopz

Black Voices Entertainment: HoopzVH1

Reality show hottie Hoopz (Nicole Alexander) has become the frontrunner of VH1’s wildly popular ‘Flavor of Love’ series. “Honestly, I can honestly sit here and tell you that I don’t think it was over a man,” the 23-year old Michigan native told Black Voices. “I think it’s just a competition and everybody wants to win it.”

    Shooting Hoopz

Of the 20 women who vied for rap personality Flavor Flav's love on VH1’s wildly popular reality series 'Flavor of Love,' two finalists emerged. The frontrunner is a 23-year-old pin-up girl, who Flav nicknamed Hoopz, (nee Nicole Deannae Alexander). "It feels great, like Tony the Tiger," she chuckled, during an interview with Black Voices yesterday. "I love it, I do I really, really love it, man. I feel so blessed."

While the South Michigan native remained mum about whether or not she's the winner of the show -- an urbanized take on 'The Bachelor,' Hoopz didn't mince words about the competition, a voluptuous woman whom Flav renamed New York (nee Tiffany Pollard). "I can't stand her. She’s a fake-ass bi#@h. She's very outlandish. She is fake as hell. She do all of that for TV, bottom line." A now-infamous episode highlighted New York and Pumpkin (the most recent contestant to be cut from the show) engaged in a physical altercation that turned really nasty – literally. Hoopz sided with Pumpkin – a brazen blond who spat in Miss New York's face. "The fight scene was funny to me," she said. "I almost fell on the floor laughing. New York deserved to get spit in her face. Neither one of them could fight. I was standing back laughing but the camera didn't show me, they edited a lot of it out. I was like: 'Hell naw' … America ain’t really seen all the dirty s*@t she doing to everybody in the house … If it was me, I would’ve knocked her out."

Hoopz, who has appeared in music videos and steamy pin-up calendars, will have a small role in the Mekhi Phifer-directed 'Easier, Softer Way' this summer. She revealed that she 'lucked up' on 'Flavor of Love,' after being prodded by the casting agent of her actor friend Jason Rick.

So does she really find Flavor Flav attractive?

"I can honestly tell you yes," she answered. "In the beginning, everybody was like, ‘What the hell am I doing? But I’m real like that. If you have nice personality, you’re real, you’re down to earth, easy-going, you’re cool with me. So yeah, I do find him attractive now because I love the person that he is. I know it sounds crazy but that’s real."

The season finale of 'Flavor of Love'' airs on March 12 at 10:00 p.m. ET.

Hoopz' attractiveness comes and fades to me depending on the camera angle and brightness.

I've only seen 3 episodes of the show. I didn't know Hoopz was 1/2 white, and I never would've assumed it.

Hoopz is in this strictly for the exposure, there is no way in hell she would settle down with Flav.

    Tealy said:

...Hoopz is no better than NY. She is probably just as much a goldigger as NY.

    HOOPZ & SCREAMS…

    Future plans:

"I wish I had a big story for you, but I really don’t. I’m going day by day. I’m meeting a lot of people in the entertainment business and I’m working out a lot of deals, and hopefully maybe with this, the all in all, my goal right now is I want to be in films."

The show perpetuating the stereotype that women will fight over a no-good man:

"I can honestly sit here and tell you that I don’t think it was over a man. I think it’s just a competition and everybody wants to win it. There is a difference. It’s a competition and it’s power in women, especially when it’s against females. That’s more competitive than a damn game of basketball; you know what I'm saying? So I think that’s what it really came down to."

"Me and Flavor Flav, we’re going to be cool regardless. That’s what I’m in it for."

Is there sister solidarity between her and Miss New York:

"Hell to the naw. She's more white than a white person … She’s trying to get ghetto, but man… no. I don’t care if you are black, red, yellow or green, I definitely ain’t cut like that. I’m not the type to start nothing but if you start it with me, I’m going to finish it for real. All that little sisterhood, that’s out the door, especially when it comes to her."

    'Vagina' Comes Alive Again

A special one-night-only charity performance of Eve Ensler's award-winning play 'The Vagina Monologues' will take place at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on March 16. MC Lyte, Ananda Lewis and Victoria Rowell are confirmed to appear in the show, which will be held in conjunction with the 2006 Worldwide V-Day Campaign. Television actresses Terri J. Vaughn ('All of Us'), Vanessa Williams ('Soul Food'), Niecy Nash ('Reno 911'), Dawnn Lewis ('A Different World') and Natalie Deselle Reid ('Eve') are also confirmed. Last year’s event was acknowledged by Ensler to be a great success when Kenadie Cobbin produced a sold-out show directed by Penny Marshall and starring Teri Hatcher, Mo’Nique, Tracy Ellis Ross, Marla Gibbs, Lori Petty, and Lisa Rinna. The event will support the HerShe Group, a not-for-profit organization founded by Cobbin, which empowers girls who are transitioning from the foster care system to adult independence.

    Just A Lil’ Bit

The first episode of Lil' Kim's reality series 'Countdown to Lockdown' premieres on BET on March 9 at 9:30 p.m. The six-episode docu-drama chronicles the platinum-selling rapper’s last two weeks of freedom before surrendering herself to federal authorities. Last September, Kim (nee Kimberly Jones) was sentenced to a 366-day jail term at a maximum-security prison near Philadelphia, for making false testimony to a federal grand jury about a 2001 shootout outside a New York City radio station. “I’ve always been fascinated by Lil' Kim,” said Tracey Edmonds, who heads BET’s 'College Hill.' "She’s such a dynamic female, on so many different levels. She’s a businesswoman. She’s a recording icon. She’s a fashion icon. Seeing everything she was trying accomplish, preparing to go away, and being so strong . . . it was really fascinating to spend time with her for two weeks on this roller-coaster ride." Kim's last album, 'The Naked Truth,' sold nearly 333,000 copies since August, according to Nielsen Soundscan. A special invite-only screening party will be held at Jay-Z's New York City 40/40 club to celebrate the premiere of the show. According to a spokesperson at BET, the premiere episode will re-air on March10 at 12:30 p.m., March 11 at 7:30 p.m. and March 14 at 10 p.m.

    New 'Hairspray' To Try

Queen Latifah has signed on to star in New Line Cinema’s upcoming feature film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical ‘Hairspray.’ The hip-hop superstar will play Motormouth Maybelle in the film, directed by Adam Shankman ('The Pacifier,' 'Bringing Down the House') and produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron – the duo that executive-produced the Academy Award-winning 'Chicago' – for which Latifah garnered an Oscar nomination. "We were looking for the perfect vehicle to re-team," Zadan and Meron said. "'Hairspray' presented us with a wonderful opportunity to collaborate once again with our multi-talented friend." John Travolta will play the cross-dressing role of Edna Turnblad. Originally based on the 1988 John Waters comedy about star-struck teenagers on a local Baltimore dance show, the new version of the film will stay in line with Broadway adaptation of the original movie, which debuted in 2002 starring Harvey Fierstein, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Mary Bond Davis. A nationwide casting search is underway to find a newcomer to play the lead role of Tracy Turnblad in the film, with production scheduled to begin this fall.

    Soul On The Road

The Trinidadian-born chanteuse released her second, ‘In My Mind,’ on Jan. 31, to rave reviews. The multiple-Grammy nominee starred in Broadway productions of ‘Aida’ and ‘The Lion King,’ before taking on a pop music career.
