Here's a look at the Top 10 hip-hop producers in the world today:

1. The Neptunes -- A survey conducted in 2003 found that 43 per cent of all songs played on American radio that year were by the duo of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. They've made hits for Nelly, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and even the late Ol' Dirty Bastard.

2. Dr. Dre -- Former N.W.A. member Dr. Dre practically shaped the sound of West Coast rap in the 1990s and has worked with some of the most critically acclaimed rappers, including Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Nas and Eminem. Today, he works with the likes of 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes and The Game.

3. Timbaland -- Timbaland is another producer with a style so unique that he helped change the direction of the Top 40. He has worked with Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Ludacris and Justin Timberlake.

4. Kanye West -- This six-time Grammy winner is known mostly for producing his own records, but he's also worked with Alicia Keys, Common, Jay-Z, Janet Jackson and Ludacris.

5. Scott Storch -- The Canadian-born Storch (Margaree, N.S.) moved to New Jersey and became the keyboard player for The Roots. He has produced for The Roots, Busta Rhymes, 50 Cent and Jurassic 5.

6. Danger Mouse -- Danger Mouse came to attention in 2004 after mashing The Beatles' White Album with Jay-Z's The Black Album to make The Grey Album. Since then, he produced Gorillaz second album Demon Days, worked with MF Doom as Dangerdoom, and with Cee-Lo as Gnarls Barkley.

7. RZA -- The leader and beatmaster behind the Wu-Tang Clan, in addition to influencing countless underground producers, the RZA now creates film scores (Kill Bill, Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai).

8. Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson -- The drummer for The Roots has also produced for Common, D'Angelo, Slum Village, Erykah Badu and Blackalicious.

9. will.i.am -- The Black Eyed Peas rapper is responsible for their new Latin-tinged direction, and this year reworked classic Sergio Mendes tracks on Timeless. He also produced Fergie's The Dutchess.

10. Dan "The Automator" Na-kamura -- The producer who made kitschy cool, Dan the Automator produced the first Gorillaz album, and has several underground projects with the likes of Kool Keith (Dr. Octagon) and Prince Paul (Handsome Boy Modeling School).
