Isobel Campbell promises "witchy" new album
Mercury-nominated singer Isobel Campbell has told DiS that she's to release another album before the end of the year. Her Mercury shortlisted Ballad Of The Broken Seas was released in January 2006.
Campbell has previously collaborated with both Bill Wells and Mark Lanegan on her solo adventures, so we asked if there'd be further collaborations in the future.
"Collaborating is definitely the future, it’s my favourite thing," said Campbell. "I have quite a few ideas, although I will be releasing a kind of leftfield, pagan, psychedelic acoustic album called Milkwhite Sheets before the year is out.
"The songs are half traditional and half self-penned. Witchy."
Strangely, the idea of Campbell being a witch - a good witch, obviously - doesn't seem so far-fetched. Expect to be under her spell, then, come Christmas time. Unless, of course, you've passed out from over-exposure to Sufjan Stevens. That man, he crazy.
The winner of this year's Nationwide Mercury Prize will be announced later today - check DiS later this afternoon to discover the winner.

lyrics aren't great
but she does have a good voice. Ballad of the broken seas is a nice album overall, great sound.
Her contribution to Belle & Sebastian was to write/sing
all the ones I forward past.
ah, i do like her music
is it me, or is it hate everything day today on DiS?
i hate you nick
only kidding; nottingham will never be the same without you.
I have Birdsong for You - it's bordering on too twee but i do think her voice is cool.
yeah
her first few albums are too twee, i'll give you, this latest one's a bit of a corker though. i guess we'll see if that was just 'cause of mark lanegan soon enough.
i loves her.
