Quick Hits: Ciara, AFI, Johnny Cash, Tenacious D, Miho Hatori
September 25, 2006

Ciara will release the follow-up to her debut album, GoodiesCiara: The Evolution, on December 5. She describes the new record to MTV.com as "definitely a transformation from the first album to this one. This is my first time co-producing, which is really exciting for me. I've been learning a lot throughout this whole recording process. And I'm thankful to just be in my second album. But it's all about where I'm going next." The singer wrote or co-wrote all her new material, and worked with some big name collaborators, including Pharrell Williams, Rodney Jerkins and the omnipresent Will.I.Am.

AFI

AFI will head out on a fall tour of the east coast in support of their hit album Decemberunderground. Thus far, only five dates have been announced: Rochester, NY (10/28), Sayreville, NJ (10/30), Washington, DC (11/1), Providence, RI (11/2) and Albany, NY (11/4).

A pair of releases from the late Johnny Cash are on the way. A deluxe edition of Johnny Cash at San Quentin will be released as a two-CD/DVD set with 13 previously unreleased tracks and the British documentary Johnny Cash in San Quentin. According to Billboard, the new edition of San Quentin will be released on November 17. Also, the previously-unreleased concert film Johnny Cash In Ireland - 1993 will be released on DVD on October 31.

Tenacious D is readying the soundtrack to their upcoming film, Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny, but the duo can't decide on how many tracks will make the cut. Kyle Gass tells Billboard.com that fans can expect "10 to 12 new songs" on the disc, which is due out November 14. The lead single, "The Pick Of Destiny," impacts at radio in October, but the video debuted today on MTV. The duo will tour North America in November, then visit the U.K. and Australia.

Miho Hatori begins her solo tour in support of Ecdysis with a New York gig opening for Brazillian Girls on October 5, before heading out as part of the Hotel Cafe tour. The trek will feature a rotating group of musicians, including Rachael Yamagata, Jonah Mantranga, Tristan Prettyman, Matt Costa and many others. The Hotel Cafe tour begins on October 15 in Minneapolis and winds up in Cincinnati on October 25.
