Goldrun heads Chariot contenders

Alexander Goldrun

Alexander Goldrun and Soviet Song head a high-class field of 11 fillies and mares left in Saturday's Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.

No less than six of the field have scored at the highest level and a top-class renewal looks on the cards. Alexander Goldrun followed up her epic battle with Ouija Board in the Nassau Stakes with a creditable third in the Irish Champion Stakes behind Dylan Thomas at Leopardstown.

James Fanshawe's Soviet Song has endured a patchy season, winning the Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot and finishing second to Court Masterpiece in the Sussex Stakes, before disappointing last time.

Pam Sly's 1000 Guineas winner Speciosa could bid to get back on the winning trail while Clive Brittain's Rajeem could try to prove her win in the Falmouth Stakes was no fluke.

Red Evie will bid for an eighth straight victory after gaining her first Group One success in the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown.
Peeress, Flashy Wings and Nannina all reoppose Red Evie after finishing second, third and fourth respectively in Ireland.
Echelon, Musicanna, Spinning Queen and Vague complete the line-up.
