Mick Channon has warned the going is likely to determine whether Flashy Wings will take her chance in Saturday's Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes.

The daughter of Zafonic won last season's Queen Mary and Lowther Stakes, but disappointed on soft going in the 1000 Guineas when making her seasonal reappearance in May.

She has since returned to something approaching her best form, however, claiming second spot behind Nannina in Royal Ascot's Coronation Stakes before finishing ahead of that rival when a close third in the Matron Stakes last time.

Channon is keen to run his filly in the Group One attraction at the weekend, but he is mindful that an inclement weather forecast could scupper that plan.

"Obviously we want to run, but she won't if there's any cut in the ground and I hear the forecast isn't too encouraging for the end of the week," he declared.

The Berkshire handler also underlined his unbeaten juvenile Halicarnassus is only likely to be seen in action when the ground is not too testing.

His colt was a late withdrawal from the Royal Lodge on Saturday on account of the easy surface, but could now be aimed at a couple of the big end-of-season races, ground permitting.

"There's the Dewhurst and then there's the Racing Post Trophy, but I can assure you that he must have some decent ground to run," he said of his Superlative Stakes winner.

"I think the world of this horse and won't let him get pulled about in a bog."
