Meeting Michael's Kids...
....So let me start off by saying that I absolutely LOVE Michael Jackson with every fiber of my being, and coming to sites like this where there are thousands of other people who feel the same, makes me feel so good. But anyway, I work at an indoor skydiving wind tunnel at Universal Citywalk Hollywood, where MJ's kids flew a few weeks ago. You've probably seen the pictures of them flying there on various websites. I took those pictures. There are cameras mounted inside the wind tunnel. We control the cameras while controlling the wind. It's MANDATORY for us to take pics of all guests who fly in our wind tunnel (for safety reasons everything must be recorded) I hoped they wouldn't get leaked. I actually tried to take bad photos of them so they wouldn't get leaked so the kids could have some privacy- but someone leaked the photos anyway.(if you wanna see the leaked photos, they are here: http://www.tmz.com/2009/11/16/mjs-kids-were-just-like-peter-pan/ ) My co-workers and I recognized the kids, nanny Grace Rwarmba and Omer Bhatti when they walked up. But they (and the family friends they were with) were using fake names ( all biblical- Mary, Matthew, Mark, John and Luke) so we just treated them like any other guests we have. Normally, our policy is to ask any 'celebrities' for pictures and take a bunch, post them on bulletin boards and call the higher-ups and let them know celebs are there. But my co-workers and I all figured they probably rarely get any privacy and the chance to just be normal kids in public, so we decided not to ask for pictures or let on we know who they were. Paris and Prince flew, along with Omer Bhatti, and their family friends (there were other kids with them. people who say they are never with other kids obviously have no idea what they're talking about). They all had a great time, and were happy. They were naturally good flyers too! I know this is weird- and sounds crazy, but, it felt like I was able to give something back to the man who I feel, has touched me so deeply. He made millions happy. The loves of his life were his kids. Making them happy- that's what he would have wanted. That was the perfect gift for me to give to my hero. They were so happy. Laughing, excited, and they weren't afraid. It made me a little sad to think that those kids will probably have to use fake names for the rest of their lives. But they were happy and having fun. And they messed up their fake names a couple of times. Which was funny. Paris assumed the name of Mary. When we called out her name for class, one of the kids in their group said "Who's Mary?" and Paris nudged her and said "Sshhhh." It was funny. After she was done flying Paris started jumping up and down and screaming "Oh My God! That was the coolest thing I've eve done! I wanna do it again!!" The flight instructor flew Omer up to the top of the chamber. Afterward, Paris asked Omer if he touched the ceiling. She said " You were so high up! It looked like you touched the ceiling! Did you?" Omer said he didn't know. Then Prince interjected and said "No. I've seen the schematics on the thing. There is no ceiling. You go right through the fans." Paris rolled her eyes at him. But I thought it was so funny. What kind of 12 year old says 'schematics'? Lol. What a smarty! At one point the instructor asked if any of them had ever skydived. Prince walked up and said "I have. All the time." The instructor said "Oh yeah? Where?" Prince said with slight arrogance in his voice "In a video-game. On Wii." Which I don't think actually exists, but I thought it was really funny- especially the tone with which he said it. LOL. He seemed like any typical 12 year-old boy. And they were so sweet and polite. Thank yous and pleases. Paris and Prince were both very gracious. I helped Prince put on his helmet and goggles. He looked at me with Michael's eyes and said very graciously, as his eyes softened "Thank you." He seems liek such a sweet kid. Probably just like his dad. I know most people don't think that those are biologically his kids- and even me, as big of fan as I am, I was one of those people. Until that day. Looking at those kids- face to face... they had Michael's eyes. Especially Blanket. He didn't fly, but he was there. So cute, with his long ponytail, and big round, soft sensitive eyes. He looks JUST LIKE MICHAEL when he was a little boy. A lot of people don't think that those kids are 'normal', but they were THE MOST normal, down-to-earth kids I have met in a long time. We get lots of brats at my job, and the Jacksons, were not part of them. Meeting those kids was a great experience. I was never fortunate enough to meet Michael. Even though I was sure in my heart of hearts that one-day fate would bring us together and our paths would cross, at least once, it didn't happen before his death. In April, I went to the exhibition of his personal belongings in Beverly Hills. You can tell a lot about a person by the things they collect. Seeing his collections, made me realize that he and I were truly soulmates in so many ways. I know that sounds crazy, but I still believe that- even though he's gone. I thought that exhibition was just a step on the path of me getting closer to meeting him..... in July, I went to his memorial. I wasn't able to be in the Staples Center, but was in Nokia across the street, where all of the overflow guests were. I'll never forget Paris's words that day. Her tear strewn face. I lost my grandfather was I was 11. He was the only father I really knew. I could relate to how Paris felt.... but that day at the wind tunnel. She was so happy- so gorgeous too. The goggles she wore ended up matching her beautiful aqua colored eyes. Those eyes that I watched so full of sadness at the memorial. Were so full of joy the day taht I met her. Meeting his kids and being a part of that experience, made me feel like I was able to share a moment with MJ, even after he was gone. I think more than Michael's music, the smiling faces of his kids and who they will become, are his true legacy. He truly was an amazing man. I'm glad I had the opportunity to touch a little part of him, and to in a sense, give something back to a man who gave all of his fans so much. I love you Michael.
