You've Got A Friend In Me Part 12
Thank you to everyone who voted. I haven't got much to say right now ecxept that I'm glad you all are likng it. Which is why it is dedicated to you the reader and Michael Jackson. -norah It had been two weeks. Two weeks since Melanie had her dress for the pagaent ready, two weeks since Michael was at her place and two weeks since Vince embaressed her and her mother Julie in front of their guests. He had made it so obvious he was cheating on Julie and his mistress' husband had attacked him. Melanie wondered why Julie didn't just leave the jerk. Instead Julie was staying by his side even more than ever. Melanie didn't want to be home much and was still at the ballet studio an hour and a half after practise was over. Her ballet skills were a bit rusty with all the troubles Vince was giving Julie and her in extension. "Excuse me." she heard someone say. She turned and it was none other than Tatum. Melanie didn't say anything except ignore her completely. "Okay. I'll just get to the point. Are you Melanie and if so, why are you trying to steal my boyfriend?" Tatum said. Melanie stopped and looked at her with confusion. First, Julie and Fabio now Tatum. Meanwhile, Michael was in his room writing new songs for the Jackson 5. His mind was not in what he was writing because hid thoughts had been consumed by how many similarities he had with Melanie. Their fathers were both being unfaithful and she was very lonely only she didn't know that Michael was also lonely in his own way. He was always busy and if he wasn't busy, he was too shy to do or say much. Tatum was a lovely girl but too much for him and he couldn't just forget that she ruined their date making it very clear that what they had was meaningless to her. He broke up with her earlier that day over the phone. Rude as that was, it was the only way he could do it without having to face her. Their conversation was simple but he found it so hard to forget and put behind him. Michael: Hi. Tatum: Oh hey. I missed you so very much. Michael: Yeah. Look, I have to tell you something. You might not like what I have to say. Tatum: What is it? Michael: I think we shouldn't be together anymore. We can still be friends if you want. Tatum: Not until you tell me why. Michael: There's nothing much to tell. Tatum: You've found somebody new. Michael: Don't be silly. Tatum: That Melanie girl moves fast doesn't she? Did you know she kissed Bryce Mitchell. I hope you are happy with dating a hoe. Michael: No it has nothing to do with Melanie and don't call her names. She isn't like that. At that she had hung up. Michael really hoped she didn't do something stupid. But knowing Tatum, she was probably where Melanie was making accusing her of things she didn't do. He couldn't help but wonder if the Bryce part was true. At the ballet studio, Melanie was listening to Tatum's lame accusations or rather pretending she was listening. "You know what? You be like that, okay? You think all the things you wanna think but what I have to say is, you are wrong. I'm not interested in Michael in that way." Melanie said trying to remain calm. "I know you're in the beuaty pagaent this weekend and let me tell you something, you will pay for what you did to me." Tatum said to her. Melanie decided not to respond to the girl who must've been insane to think her and Michael would last. She wasn't worth it anyway. What is the worst she could come up with. The girl was only 12 after all. The whole town was buzzing about the upcoming Miss.Gary,IN JR. pagaent. Melanie got home to Julie with alot of cash in her hands. "Erm Julie? Are you going to bribe the judges with that?" Melanie asked as she got in the house. "No. It's for your spa treatment. We want your skin to glow for this weekend." Julie said. "Good. You should come along too. To relax yourself for one day." Melanie said to her mother. "Maybe. Listen, sit down for a sec. I want to tell you something." Julie said to her confused daughter. "What? Is it about Vince?" Melanie asked. "Let's talk less often about him. But no, it's about your - just look here." Julie gave her a black and white photo of a handsome man with dark hair, green eyes and pale skin on with a medium brown skinned woman under a tree with and the woman was carrying a baby. "Is that my father?" Melanie asked. "Yes" Julie said simply. "Wow. He was handsome. That baby is me, right?" Melanie asked looking at how happy everyone looked in that photo but her. She must've been crying. Julie nodded and looked at the photo. "Those were happier times yet darker days. Your father and I couldn't be together becuase of our families and our races back then." Julie explained. "So he left. A week after this photo was taken. He went to Washington and said he'd return. He never did." Julie went on. And you married Vince out of stupidity, Melanie thought. "Why did he never return?" Melanie asked. "I don't know. But he wants to see you, now." Julie said. "That's not possible. You told me he died." Melanie said. "I know. I know. But he isn't. and he wants to see you. I already said he can." "What? Why? He left us." Melanie said. "Look he wants to see you, okay? So let him see you. And you have to win now." Julie said. Melanie realised that her mother had finally got back to normal when she was speaking like this. ********************************************************************************************************************************
